Meet Our Pastor
Hi, I’m Joe.
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
If you’ve come this far into our church website, welcome and thank you for your interest in Art Methodist Church! I’m Joe Gist, the pastor of Art. My wife Kathy and I arrived here this past January. In our 35 years together, we’ve served churches in downtown settings, suburbs of large cities, and rural churches; churches of 15 and churches of 2400. But it’s in small town communities where we feel most at home. We’ve found its in the small towns that people have the biggest hearts—for God and for each other and Art is no exception. We’re happy to be serving with the congregation of Art.
As a Global Methodist congregation, we are dedicated to making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness across the globe through vibrant, spirit-led worship, meaningful Bible study and small group settings, in mission ministries and service to the community. The folks of Art Methodist Church are authentic in their hospitality towards guests, their love for one another and are faithful in their love for God. If this is the kind of church you’re looking for, you’ll find the people to be warm and welcoming, ready with opportunities for worshiping God and sharing the love of Christ with our community and the world at large through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness. Welcome to Art Methodist Church!

Pastor Joe
Senior/Lead Pastor: Joe Gist
A native Dallasite, I am now in my 41st year of ministry. I spent seventeen years in youth ministry in Texas and Western Pennsylvania prior to my calling to become a full-time local pastor in our former denomination, the United Methodist Church. I served suburban churches as associate pastor and also pastored a three-point charge and two individual congregations in rural North Texas, one for 9 years and another for 7 years. I was ordained in 2023 as an elder in the Global Methodist Church. After serving as senior pastor for a church in North Georgia for a short period, I returned to Texas to accept this appointment to Art Methodist Church.
As a Christian, I am assured by God’s grace in Jesus Christ for my salvation. As a pastor, I strive to preach messages that share the gospel and are scripture-based, teach Wesleyan theology, and example grace by word and action in the community. Together with the congregation, we will grow disciples of Jesus Christ and take Christ’s love to those who need it by whatever means God provides.
Kathy, my lovely wife of 36 years and I, live in Mason with our two adorable puppies, Bitsy and Beau. Our son Seth lives in North Georgia.
